Job Title: Student Lifeguard
Department: Campus Recreation / Athletics

Job Description:
The Student Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons using the campus aquatic facilities. This includes monitoring pool activities, enforcing facility rules, responding to emergencies, and providing first aid or CPR as needed. Lifeguards are also expected to assist with routine maintenance tasks, set-up and breakdown of equipment, and uphold a professional and attentive presence at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Monitor swimmers to ensure safe behavior and adherence to pool rules
• Respond promptly and effectively to all emergencies
• Perform rescues, administer first aid, and complete incident reports as necessary
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area
• Conduct routine safety checks of equipment and pool conditions
• Provide excellent customer service to patrons and staff

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current Lifeguard Certification (e.g., Red Cross or equivalent)
• CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification
• Ability to remain alert, focused, and responsive during shifts
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior lifeguarding experience in a college or recreational setting
• Familiarity with campus recreation policies and procedures
