Mac Lab Tutor-Student Assistant
Position Summary:
The Mac Lab Tutor provides academic and technical support to students utilizing the college’s Mac Lab. The tutor assists students with course-related projects, software applications, and troubleshooting basic technology issues while maintaining an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in designated subjects, with emphasis on projects requiring Mac Lab resources.
Support students in learning and effectively using Mac-based software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Microsoft Office, etc.).
Assist with file management, printing, and proper lab equipment usage.
Guide students in problem-solving, research strategies, and project execution.
Maintain a professional and welcoming lab environment that fosters independent learning.
Monitor lab activity, ensuring proper use of equipment and adherence to lab policies.
Report technical issues to the Mac Lab supervisor or IT staff promptly.
Perform light administrative tasks, such as scheduling tutoring sessions, logging student usage, or maintaining lab records.
Qualifications:
Must be a currently enrolled student in good academic standing.
Strong knowledge of Mac operating systems and related software applications.
Prior coursework or experience in graphic design, communications, media production, or related fields preferred.
Effective communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly to peers.
Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently.
Previous tutoring, mentoring, or teaching experience is a plus.
