Simulated Participants: Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences invites applications for a position as Simulated Participants starting in January 2026. Simulated Participants (SPs) are lay people trained to accurately and consistently recreate the history, personality, physical findings, and emotional structure and response pattern of an actual patient/client, caregiver, or professional at a particular point in time; assess/document learner performance; provide individualized feedback on designated skills; and represent receiver satisfaction. In this capacity, an SP will be interviewed and physically examined by learners or health professionals in the same manner as if they were an actual patient/client. 
Responsibilities:
SPs will ...
- Portray a patient/client, caregiver, or professional based on provided scenarios
- Portray the physical findings of particular disease states or procedures. This may include wearing makeup, costumes, and/or external props such as casts, bandages, or tubes (that do not enter the body)
- Portray a particular character with mannerisms and responses consistent with the described role
- Demonstrate improvisational skills when appropriate to the scenario
- Be receptive to ongoing feedback and modify performance as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality of learners and simulation-based learning experiences
- Observe and recall student communication and performance during the scenario
- Provide feedback on student performance either directly or as requested during post-scenario debriefing

- basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate emails and online video communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
