Student Advocate for Wellness

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Encourage peers in the development and maintenance of lifelong healthy behaviors. 
  • Facilitate wellness programs for diverse audiences:
    • Topics may include alcohol, body image, consent, healthy relationships, nutrition, marijuana and other drug use, sexual health, sexual assault prevention, stress management, and overall health and well-being.
    • Facilitate interactive programs in residence halls and academic classes.
    • Participate in interactive tabling.
  • Assist in the development of wellness programs and activities, including recurring programs, events, social media, and print campaigns.
  • Attend all Student Advocates for Wellness meetings, trainings, and retreats. 
  • Provide support to Campus Recreation wellness programs and events.
  • Model healthy behaviors in personal life.
  • May elect to serve in the Safe Sex Squad.

 

EVALUATION

  • Student Advocates for wellness will be evaluated formally on an annual basis by their peers, Student Advocates for Wellness supervisor(s), Graduate Assistant, and/or Assistant Director for Alcohol and Other Drug Education and Health Promotion. Informal evaluation will take place as necessary.
  • Positive evaluation and maintenance of good academic and judicial standing are required to remain in the Student Advocates for Wellness.
