Internships and Field Experiences
At Springfield College, internships and field experiences offer our students additional ways of learning and gaining experience that help introduce them to a particular career path or industry. Both of these kinds of opportunities put students in a position to gain hands-on experience, develop skills related to their major, make professional contacts, put valuable experiences on their resume, and more.
Examples of Internship Opportunities
Criminal Justice: U.S. Supreme Court, Massachusetts State Police, U.S. Federal Probation, and various police departments in New England
Sport Management: Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Boston Celtics, Buffalo Bills, Travelers Championship, ESPN, and Florida Panthers
Recreation Management: Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Valley Blue Sox Baseball, Western Massachusetts Hospital, and TEST Sports Clubs
Examples of Field Experiences
Athletic Training: Clinical experiences facilitate learning of theoretical and clinical competencies, plus problem-solving skills, needed by athletic trainers, and could take place on campus, approved affiliate settings, such as high schools and colleges.
Occupational Therapy: Across the country, there are more than 300 fieldwork sites that have an affiliation with our Department of Occupational Therapy and offer a wide variety of experiences and treatment approaches.
Physical Education: Field experience begins in the first academic year and helps physical education students put what they learned in the classroom into practice all while gaining important on-the-job experience.
Physician Assistant Studies: Clinical rotation training takes place in a number of clinical facilities, including offices of private physicians, community hospitals, community health centers, HMOs, and other health care facilities.
Educators in Action
Make your mark on the world through one of Springfield College's education, physical education, health education, and teacher licensure programs. You’ll help shape the next generation by inspiring the minds of early childhood, elementary, and secondary education-aged students, including learners who have a diverse range of skills and personalities in the classroom and the gymnasium.
Partnership with Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival
Through the Springfield College partnership with Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, dance students have year-round, complete access to live performances, the festival dance archives, lectures, workshops, interviews, and in-person networking with international artists in residence. Dance students also have the opportunity to attend summer workshops and/or obtain internships at Jacob’s Pillow for College credit.
