Health Science, Pre-PA Program Outcomes

Goal 1 : Develop a working knowledge of the concepts of required sciences and math.

  • SLO 1 : The student will have a sufficient understanding of prerequisite biological concepts. 
  • SLO 2 : The student will have a sufficient understanding of chemistry concepts. 
  • SLO 3 : The student will have a sufficient understanding of math concepts.

Goal 2 : Demonstrate an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of PAs.

  • SLO 4 : The student will demonstrate an understanding of the level of professionalism that is required for a PA. 
  • SLO 5 : The student will demonstrate an understanding of the various fields of medicine that PAs can practice in, and their role in that practice. 
  • SLO 6 : The student will develop an understanding of the PA scope of practice.
  • SLO 7 : The student will complete PA shadowing to ensure understanding of the daily role of PAs and ensure passion for the career.

Goal 3 : Display an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social determinants of health and how they relate to healthcare.

  • SLO 8 : Demonstrate an understanding of  diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare.
  • SLO 9 :  Discuss and understand the behaviors of patients and their barriers and motivations to get well and seek health care.
  • SLO 10 : Demonstrate awareness of special populations of patients and how cultural, religious, and other factors affect access to and utilization of healthcare.
  • SLO 11 : The student will complete direct patient care to gain experience and exposure to diverse populations of patients and healthcare teams and systems.
