Movement and Sports Studies Program Outcomes

Goal 1: MOST students are expected to be knowledgeable about lifespan human development, learning theories, and psychological theories respective to educational and recreational settings.

  • SLO 1: Students will be able to identify principles of human and motor development across the lifespan.
  • SLO 2: Students will recognize stages of growth and maturation from early childhood through adulthood
  • SLO 3: Students will be able to explain the various theories in motor learning.

Goal 2: MOST students are expected to be able to design and implement educational and recreational programs in a variety of movement contexts.

  • SLO 4: Students will be able to design lesson, activity plans and/or fitness/wellness lessons.
  • SLO 5: Students will be able to plan for scope and sequence in larger curricula and/or programs.
  • SLO 6: Students will demonstrate effective facilitation and/or instructional behaviors when delivering lesson, activities and/or workouts.

Goal 3: MOST students are expected to demonstrate skill competence in multiple contexts in sport, outdoors and/or fitness/wellness

  • SLO 7: Students will demonstrate skill execution proficiency in their selected area of career development, e.g. sport, outdoors and/or fitness wellness.

Goal 4: MOST students are expected to demonstrate leadership skills through analysis and synthesis in complex contexts.

  • SLO 8: Students will analyze program goals and design appropriate lesson, activities and/or fitness/wellness lessons.
  • SLO 9: Students will demonstrate the capacity to assess participant progress and satisfaction in programs.
  • SLO 10: Students will be able to assess safety and risk in the design and delivery of programs and lessons.
