Outdoor Pursuits Staff-Student
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Outdoor Pursuits offers two types of student staff positions: Student Class Instructor and Student Support Personnel.
- Student Class Instructors assist faculty in delivering skill-based instruction in one or more of the following disciplines: archery, campcrafts, canoeing, challenge course, disc golf, mountain biking, outdoor cooking, strength in nature, and yoga.
- Student Support Personnel help manage the logistics and operational needs of Outdoor Pursuits courses in the areas of food shed, guest services, health and safety, kitchen, and special events.
All student staff members must be organized, knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
STUDENT CLASS INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons for college-aged students.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, representing Outdoor Pursuits’ policies, expectations, and values.
STUDENT SUPPORT PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize and manage logistical and operational aspects of the course.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Work independently while supporting the broader needs of Outdoor Pursuits.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold Outdoor Pursuits’ policies and expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have previously participated in an Outdoor Pursuits course.
- Must have content knowledge and experience relevant to the course discipline or support role for which you are applying.
- Available Positions: 23
- Hourly Rate: $12.00 per hour
