Health Humanities
The interdisciplinary Health Humanities minor at Springfield College combines the study of the humanities with the health sciences to help students better understand the human experience of health, wellness, and care. Through courses in art, history, literature, philosophy, religion, and rhetoric, students explore important questions surrounding healthcare, communication, ethics, and the patient experience.
This minor strengthens critical thinking, communication, and empathy—skills that are essential for future healthcare professionals. Grounded in the College’s Humanics philosophy of educating students in spirit, mind, and body, the program encourages students to view healthcare through a more holistic and person-centered lens.
The Health Humanities minor also provides valuable interdisciplinary preparation for students pursuing graduate or professional programs in the allied health sciences. By combining humanities-based inquiry with healthcare interests, students gain a distinctive academic credential that is attractive to employers and graduate admissions committees.
