Internships and Experiential Learning
Our History majors regularly intern in the College museum/archive. We have also placed interns at the Wood Museum of Springfield History, the Springfield Armory National Historical Site, and the Longmeadow Historical Society.
Students in History courses routinely learn outside of the typical classroom. Our faculty work closely with the College’s archivist to turn the College archive and museum into a laboratory for students. Site visits to the Wood Museum of Springfield History; the Springfield Armory National Historic Site; nearby cemeteries and historical monuments; and a walking history tour of Civil War monuments in Boston, are among the many opportunities for experiential learning in the History major curriculum.
