Bod Pod Body Composition

The Bod Pod uses air displacement technology to accurately measure body fat and learn body mass. The test involves sitting comfortably in the chamber for 2-3 minutes. The standard error for this test is ±1-2.7%. The report generated will display your amount of fat mass (% and kg), lean body mass (% and kg), and your body composition stratification. This information is extremely valuable in assessing your health status and response to training or nutrition programs.

How to Get the Best Results

  • Apparel: Minimalist compression garments (spandex, tightly fitted clothing, swimsuit, no padded biking shorts or padding or wiring in clothing)
  • No eating, drinking, or exercising 3 hours prior to test
  • A swim cap will be provided

A lab administrator will review your results immediately after the testing has completed.

Approximate Length of Testing Session: 30 minutes

Cost: $75

VO2 Peak Testing

VO2 Peak Testing is the gold standard for assessment of cardiorespiratory fitness/aerobic capacity.

What to Expect During Your Test

  • Expert Guidance: A certified fitness professional will guide you through every step of the process to ensure a safe, accurate, and supportive experience.
  • Progressive Challenge: You will walk or run on a treadmill as the speed and incline gradually increase. The test continues until you feel you have reached your personal limit and choose to stop.
  • Advanced Tracking: To map your exertion, you will wear a comfortable chest strap heart rate monitor and breathe through a specialized two-way mouthpiece. While the equipment might feel a bit unusual or cause minor irritation, it is designed for maximum comfort.
  • Real-Time Feedback: Throughout the session, you will simply point to a scale to show us your Rate of Perceived Exertion (how hard you feel you are working).

How to Get the Best Results

  • Apparel: Clothing you feel comfortable exercising in and bring water.
  • Eating: Please refrain from eating for at least 3 hours prior to the test, and caffeine and other other stimulants for at least 12 hours.
  • Give It Your All: Your final report relies on maximum accuracy, which means the data is most valuable when you push yourself and give your true best effort.
  • Listen to Your Body: You are always in control. The test ends the moment you decide you cannot continue.

Following your test, a lab administrator will review your data to build a comprehensive, easy-to-read aerobic fitness report. Your complete report will detail: Your precise cardiovascular metrics (VO2, VCO2, and RER), heart rate and effort responses, and a direct comparison to normative health standards so you know exactly where you stand.

Safety and Risks

Because this assessment involves pushing your body to a maximal effort, it does carry some inherent risks. Your safety is our top priority, and our certified staff is fully trained to monitor you throughout. Potential risks include:

  • Temporary muscle fatigue, shortness of breath, and physical exhaustion
  • Lightheadedness, dizziness, or nausea immediately following the intense effort
  • Rare but potential cardiovascular events, abnormal heart rhythms, or sudden changes in blood pressure
  • Minor skin irritation or discomfort from the chest strap monitor and breathing mouthpiece

Approximate Length of Testing Session: 1.5 hours
