Awards - Spring 2024 | Springfield College
Awards

Meghan L. Gaul, MFA, associate professor of Graphic Design, received three awards (two silver, one bronze) from United Designs Alliance for her graphic design work in spring 2023. This juried international design competition was in the area of signs, systems, and letterform marks. Gaul’s award-winning work includes a visual identity redesign for a financial advisory group, a masthead design for a quarterly publication, and cover art for a newly launched podcast. As an award recipient, her work was published in the UDA Annual and will become part of the permanent collection of United Designs Alliance.

As part of her sabbatical, Mary Ellen Hluska, PhD, associate professor and director of Art Therapy, applied for and was granted a one-year mentorship at the highly competitive studio environment of Zea May's Printmaking Studio in Florence, Mass., where she was a mentee to printmakers Jenny Gover and Joyce Silverstone. Hluska studied water-based screen printing, painterly collagraph, and monotype, comparing the processes to the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC). The ETC looks at art materials' complex spectrum of variables in therapy and how clients perceive these variables.

Moira C. Long, MEd, head women’s volleyball coach and associate professor of Physical Education, was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year in December 2023 as voted on by her peers.
