International Student Application Deadlines

International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible to allow for pre-departure requirements. The sooner you submit your application, the sooner you will receive a decision. Applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis and applicants can expect a decision within approximately 2-3 weeks.

Admissions Criteria and Requirements

HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Students admitted to Springfield College must have graduated from an approved secondary school (high school) or have obtained a general equivalency diploma (GED) by the time of their enrollment.

Springfield College will require you to submit your high school transcripts, which reflect your high school coursework and cumulative grade point average. Both are important factors in admission.

Springfield College recommends that you pursue the strongest college preparatory program available in your high school. Springfield College also looks for students who participate in a diverse set of cocurricular activities in high school, particularly in areas related to your intended field of study. Such activities might include athletic teams, cultural groups, or community service agencies.

Your course distribution must include the following coursework for admission.

  • Four years of English
  • Three years of math (at least through Algebra 2)
  • Two years of history or social science
  • Three years of a lab science
    • If your intended major requires extensive science preparation, you should take at least one additional laboratory science course
  • Two-consecutive years of foreign language

Springfield College is test-optional for all of our programs.

Application Criteria and Requirements

If you are completing/have completed secondary school and have never enrolled at a college/university, you can apply as a first year undergraduate student through the Common Application and respond to Springfield College's member screen questions. The Common Application is international student-friendly.

  1. APPLY THROUGH THE COMMON APPLICATION
    • Search for and select Springfield College on your Common Application dashboard 
       
  2. CREATE A PROFILE
    • Complete sections including family, education, testing, activities, and writing (choose one essay to complete online). There are instructions and help center information available on the right side that you can click on while completing the online Common Application.
    • Submit your application form as soon as it is complete. Do not wait for your transcript /letter to arrive. After you submit your application form, you will receive a follow-up email titled, "track your application status" (Check your spam folder). 
       
  3. PERSONAL ESSAY
    • Your personal statement essay gives you a chance to show admission officers who you really are beyond grades and test scores (the academic requirements). This essay is important in evaluating your application for admission as it allows you to show your personality, intelligence, values, and your future aspirations. It is very important that you be thoughtful with this essay since it is evaluated carefully. Take your time, write convincingly, spell correctly, use complete sentences, and check your grammar.
       
  4. ACADEMIC RECOMMENDATION
    • Springfield College requires at least one academic recommendation from a teacher or a guidance counselor at your school. Certain academic programs at Springfield College will require more than one recommendation to complete your application. If you are applying to a program that requires additional recommendations, you will be notified on the Common Application. While only one academic recommendation is required to complete your application, you are welcome to submit additional letters of recommendations. Recommendation letters must be uploaded to your application by your school or emailed to us by your school at intladmissions@springfield.edu.

  1. OFFICIAL SECONDARY SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT(S)
    • Please have your official academic transcript documents with subjects and marks submitted directly by the secondary school(s) currently/previously attended through the online application or by emailing intladmissions@springfield.edu. Math and science requirements should have been met during your secondary education. If you are accepted to Springfield College, your school will be asked to send your final official transcript showing all completed work and completion date as proof of graduation.
    • Please include any diplomas/certificates received as well as your official examination results from any required Secondary School leaving exam (e.g. IB, GCSEs, A Levels, CXC, WASSCE etc…). Predicted exam results may be used as part of your application review.
    • All transcripts must be in English. You may be required to submit a translation and/or professional credential evaluation from any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)

Credentials Required for Admission

For a document to be considered official, it must be sent directly from the issuing school, University, testing organization, Embassy, or credentialing agency to the International Admission Office at Springfield College.

All academic credentials not written in English must be accompanied by an official, certified English translation by a NACES member organization. 

If you are still in high school you can have your school send us your in progress grades to apply. Your school will still need to send in your final transcripts and certificates once you have graduated.

  2. COURSE BY COURSE EVALUATION
    • If the credits you plan to transfer are from an institution outside the United States, a “Course by Course evaluation” is required. We recommend our partner organization SpanTran or any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). You will need to upload a copy of your transcript here and follow the instructions. Please note that there will be an additional cost associated with this service.  This detailed analysis of your coursework will enable Springfield College’s Academic Advising Center to determine which and how many of your credits can be transferred to your degree program.
       
  3. TRANSFER COLLEGE REPORT
    • To complete the transfer college report, fill out section one and scan and email it to the Dean’s Office or equivalent at your former school(s) and ask them to complete section two and email it to intladmissions@springfield.edu. We recommend calling your former school to find out who completes these forms so that you can send it directly to the correct person. This form MUST come directly from the person who completes the form. This form cannot be submitted by the applicant.
    • The Transfer College Report form provides an attestation from your current/previous college/university that you were a student in good academic and conduct standing.

Graduate International Students

Application Criteria and Requirements

You may apply as a Graduate International Student if you have completed the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree and wish to enroll in a post-graduate degree (Masters or PhD). Note: Students with permanent US residency or dual citizenship (US and other country) will be considered as domestic applicants. 

Graduate program application requirements and deadlines vary depending on the program. Please visit the “How to Apply” section on your chosen academic program page for specific instructions on how to apply, supporting documents, and application deadlines.

Official transcript(s) from EACH college/university you have attended are required. In order to be considered official, transcripts must be received directly from the college/university.  A scanned copy is acceptable as long as it is sent from an official university email address to graduate@springfield.edu. If you cannot obtain an official transcript, you may need to request a document verification service from our credential evaluation partner (SpanTran) or from any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).  

Please also include a scan of your passport's info page. If you have a current (unexpired) I-20 form provide this as well.  Upload this to your application or email it to intladmissions@springfield.edu

PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

 A variety of English language proficiency tests will be accepted and some exemptions may apply.
