Reunion of Springfield College Baseball
July 2019
Greetings Springfield College Baseball Alumni,
I hope all of you are enjoying the start of summer. I look forward to seeing many of you back on campus October 5-6 for our Baseball Reunion! We are planning a great weekend of activities for all who are able to participate.
On Saturday, the day starts with our season ending fall games vs. Elms College. Post-game, all alumni in attendance will have the opportunity to take the field and play some ball! Batting, fielding, and bullpen work will be available. I would recommend that preparation for these fast-twitch muscle fiber activities start immediately! An evening meal will follow, where Roy Hallenbeck, class of '93, has graciously accepted an invitation to share some experiences of his relationship with Mike Trout, as his high school coach in Millville, NJ. Roy has also been kind enough to donate a Mike Trout signed baseball to be put up as a silent auction item to be bid on at the Reunion dinner.
The highlight of Sunday morning will be the naming of the Ability Field in honor of Kurt Aschermann '71. Kurt has played a vital role in the collaboration of Springfield College and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation in the construction of the Archie Allen Field project. I look forward to that event, as Kurt is truly deserving of this recognition.
Being with former Springfield College baseball players and teammates is special. The stories never get old, and time spent each other is always enjoyable. I hope to see you in October!
Yours in Springfield Baseball,
Coach Mark Simeone ’87 G’96
Head Baseball Coach
