Springfield College 136th Graduate Commencement in the Field House on Saturday, May 14, 2022

Time: 9:30 a.m.
Location: Field House in the Wellness and Recreation Complex on the Springfield College Campus

  • Student assembly for commencement begins at 8 a.m. in Dana Gymnasium, Physical Education Complex. 
  • Entrance tickets are not required for family and friends.
  • Length of ceremony: 1.5 hours, beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m.

All graduate students participating in commencement must arrive at Dana Gymnasium, Physical Education Complex between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Graduates are required to be in attendance at the pre-ceremony line-up activities no later than 8:30 a.m. to ensure the marching and seating order. Candidates are advised not to bring valuables into the assembly room.

All doctoral candidates (PhD, DPT, and PsyD) will be hooded on the stage during the ceremony.

Accessibility for Students: Graduating students attending the ceremony who will require special accommodations or special arrangements should identify needed services on the graduation application form. Once the form has been received, the Office of the Registrar will contact you to discuss the necessary arrangements. 

Accessibility for Family and Friends: There will be seating available for families and friends of graduates who have a disability or need special seating due to medical reasons. Seating will be available for each guest with these needs along with a seat for one additional person(s) to accompany him/her. Please follow the signs for handicap drop-off area. Officers from the Department of Public Safety and Springfield College staff members will be on duty to assist guests. An interpreter for those who are hearing-impaired will be part of the commencement ceremony. Dining Services: Light refreshments will be available in the tent adjacent to the Wellness and Recreation Complex from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m..

Directions to Springfield College

From Points East and West

Take Massachusetts Turnpike to Exit 51. Turn left to Interstate 291 West. Proceed one mile to Exit 5 (East Springfield, Indian Orchard). After you turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 20A, you should be prepared to get in the left lane. Take immediate left at traffic signal onto Roosevelt Avenue. Proceed three miles to Alden Street. Turn right onto Alden Street and proceed .5 miles to campus.

From Points North

Take Interstate 91 (South). Exit onto Interstate 291. Follow 291 for 4.2 miles to Exit 5B (Route 20A West, East Springfield). After you turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 20A, you should be prepared to get in the left lane. Take immediate left at traffic signal onto Roosevelt Avenue. Proceed three miles to Alden Street. Turn right onto Alden Street and proceed .5 miles to campus.

From Points South

Take Interstate 91 (North). Take Exit 2 (Route 83). Follow Route 83 to second traffic signal. Turn right onto Sumner Avenue. Proceed 2.1 miles to Roosevelt Avenue on left. Proceed through two traffic lights and bear left at next stop sign remaining on Roosevelt Avenue for .5 miles to Alden Street (first left at bridge). Turn left on Alden Street and proceed .5 miles to campus.

Parking: Officers from the Department of Public Safety will direct guests to the designated parking areas. Signs will be posted to indicate handicap parking/drop-off areas. Please note that parking is limited. It is recommended that you arrive early in order to allow sufficient time to walk from the parking areas to the commencement ceremony.
