School of Social Work Leading Charge Against Drug Addiction

 

Until this year, social work students at Springfield College only learned about substance abuse if they took an elective course.

Beginning this fall, all students are learning about drug addiction as part of their core curriculum.

"It's a matter of infusing the content into the curriculum," said Francine Vecchiolla, dean of the School of Social Work at Springfield College. "What you want to be assured is that your students will graduate understanding that this is a serious problem."
