Springfield College Surprises Special Student at Northfield Mount Hermon School

Springfield College President Mary-Beth A. Cooper and Stuart Jones, vice president for enrollment management at the College, made a surprise visit to Northfield Mount Hermon school in Northfield, Mass., recently to share the exciting news that Alejandra Ladines has been accepted as a student for the fall 2019 first-year cohort/Class of 2023. Alejandra is originally from Ecuador, and after the tragic death of her family in a car accident eight years ago, she was left with no other family or financial means of pursuing a college education after earning her high school diploma in Ecuador with a 3.93 GPA.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Northfield Mount Hermon officials, who brought Alejandra to the United States on a student visa, Springfield College admissions staff were able to connect with her and ultimately provide her with an extraordinary scholarship package that allows her to attend Springfield College so that she might pursue her educational dreams of a degree in applied exercise science. In the spirit of the Humanics philosophy, Alejandra will begin her journey of leadership in service to others.
