Sport and Exercise Psychology Online Learning Outcomes

Goal 1 : Demonstrate knowledge of established and emerging theories in sport and exercise psychology.

  • SLO 1 : Students will be able to describe the ways in which psychological, social, and physiological factors influence performance.
  • SLO 2 : Students will summarize, synthesize, and critically evaluate research in the field of sport and exercise psychology. 

Goal 2 : Demonstrate an understanding of the applications and implications of the scientific method and data analysis on practice within the field of sport and exercise psychology.

  • SLO 3 : Students will demonstrate an understanding of the Scientist-Practitioner Model and its relevance within the practice of applied sport psychology.
  • SLO 4 : Students will demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate research design, analysis, findings, and the implications of sport and exercise psychology research.

Goal 3 : Demonstrate effective written and oral skills in various formats appropriate for audiences in professional, practical, and scientific settings.

  • SLO 5 : Students will write critically and coherently about topics in sport and exercise psychology
  • SLO 6 : Students will present knowledgeably and clearly on topics in sport and exercise psychology.

Goal 4 : Understand and demonstrate ethical responsibility as an educator, consultant, and/or researcher within educational, sport, exercise, and performance settings.

  • SLO 7 : Students will demonstrate an understanding of ethical principles and standards and how they relate to relevant ethical codes 
  • SLO 8 : Students will design and implement interventions that considers issues of competence, confidentiality, assessment, responsibility, and legal standards.

Goal 5 : Apply knowledge of the physical, psychological, and social aspects of sport and exercise to help others maximize performance in sport, exercise, and performance settings.

  • SLO 9 : Students will apply their knowledge of psychological assessments, techniques, and theories to human performance in a variety of settings and populations.
  • SLO 10 : Students will develop and implement appropriate interventions to help others maximize performance in sport and exercise settings.
