Career Paths

The Health Science major prepares students for diverse professions in health-related fields by developing a strong foundation in the biological and social sciences and mathematics. The major also prepares you for careers in areas such as health administration, health insurance, hospital administration, pharmaceutical or medical device sales or marketing, and scientific writing.

Looking forward, the Health Science major will remain critical. Health care occupations are projected to grow much faster than the average for all industries. Key drivers of this growth include vast health inequities in the United States and an aging population, a rise in chronic diseases, and continuous advances in medical technology. For example, employment in the following careers are predicted to increase between now and 2030: physician assistants (27-31%), public health professions (17%), physical therapists and occupational therapists (15-25%), and nurses (10%). Overall, these fields have strong job security, competitive salaries, and rewarding career trajectories.

Experiential Learning

Students have the option to add a practicum. The Health Science program has affiliations with several community organizations and health care settings.
