Fieldwork and Internships

Students spend time in the field beginning in the first academic year, so they can put their knowledge into practice and gain invaluable on-the-job experience.  Through a sequential series of fieldwork-embedded courses, students gain confidence and competence.  Students complete a 6-semester teaching sequence, with all methods and practicum courses involving teaching in elementary and secondary schools.  Springfield College partners with a variety of schools, so students have experience in urban, suburban, and rural schools along with homeschooled children. We run a Home School PE program on Friday mornings in the Field House. The program culminates with a full semester of student teaching - all day, every day - where students gradually take over all classes.
