Career Paths
The major fosters readiness for professional roles in governmental and nonprofit public health agencies, public health program management, research, health advocacy organizations, community health education, health communication, health informatics, health policy development, and infectious disease specialists.
Looking forward, the Public Health major will remain critical. Health care and population health occupations are projected to grow much faster than the average for all industries. For example, employment in public health professions is predicted to increase by about 17% by 2030. Key drivers of this overall growth include vast health inequities in the United States and an aging population, a rise in chronic diseases, and continuous advances in medical technology.
Experiential Learning
Students have the option to add a practicum. The Public Health program has affiliations with several community organizations and health care settings.
