Health Insurance
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires that health insurance coverage be provided to all students attending Massachusetts colleges and universities who are registered for 75 percent of full-time curriculum. If you are registered for 75 percent of full-time curriculum, you will be automatically enrolled in the Springfield College Health Insurance Plan for the 2024-25 academic year. The rates for the 2024-25 academic year will be available after July 1. The link below can provide you with last year's information.
If you currently have comparable health insurance coverage that is issued by a U.S. based insurance carrier and meets coverage limits mandated by the Commonwealth, you will be required to complete the Springfield College health insurance waiver form online after July 1. If you have comparable health insurance, we ask that you waive the insurance prior to the bill due date in order for the charge to be credited to your account, otherwise your account will show a balance. Waive the student health insurance prior to the start of the academic school year, or you risk being responsible for the insurance charge, even if you have comparable insurance coverage.
If at a later date it is determined that your insurance does not meet the minimum state requirements, your account will be billed for the full amount.
