Humanics in Action
The Humanics in Action program highlights the commitment by Springfield College to year-round community-based service programs. It provides a way to connect students to community-based needs that individuals feel passionate about, while also providing experiential learning opportunities.
The Humanics in Action program began as a one-day event in September 1998. It was the idea of Distinguished Springfield Professor of Humanics Peter Polito and leaders of the New Student Orientation program to revive and expand an event described in the 1918 Springfield College yearbook. In the early years at the College, student work groups volunteered to improve the developing campus.
Program Options
Springfield College community members have the chance to participate in service projects that leave an impact in their communities. The Springfield College Assisting Neighbors Program (Springfield CAN), is where individuals or small groups of students, faculty, and staff members assist a number of our elderly neighbors with their yard maintenance. Additionally, the Athletes Serving the Community program pairs athletic teams with service opportunities in Springfield, or allows them to create their own projects.
Registration is open
