If your intended program of study is not listed below, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis prior to the start of the intended term of entry.

Master of Education or Science in Athletic Counseling candidates must submit applications by January 15, 2021.

Master of Science in Athletic Training candidates must submit applications via ATCAS here. The priority application deadline is February 15, 2021.

Master of Occupational Therapy candidates must submit applications via OTCAS here. The application deadline is January 1, 2021.

Master of Education or Science in Sport and Exercise Psychology. The priority application deadline is March 15, 2021.

Master of Education or Science in Strength and Conditioning candidates must submit applications by March 15, 2021.

Master of Education in Student Affairs Administration candidates should submit their application by the priority deadline of December 15, 2020.

PhD in Clinical Exercise Physiology candidates must submit applications by January 15, 2021.

PhD in Physical Education candidates must submit applications by December 1, 2020.

PhD in Sports and Exercise Psychology candidates must submit applications by January 15, 2021.

PhD in Teaching and Administration candidates must submit applications by January 15, 2021.

Doctor of Physical Therapy candidates must submit applications via PTCAS here. We are not currently enrolling new graduate students.

PsyD in Counseling Psychology candidates must submit applications by January 15, 2021.

Graduate Admissions Essay

Once your application form is processed you will receive an email with your application portal login credentials. Once you login to your application portal you'll be able to upload your essay.

Most programs: In two to three double-spaced pages, please describe significant life experiences that have contributed to your interest in your field, your understanding of this field, your occupational objectives, and why you have chosen Springfield College. 

Sport Management and Recreation: In a professionally written essay, please describe the current state of the sport or recreation industry, your salient experiences related to the industry, and how Springfield College will better prepare you for this industry.

Therapeutic Recreation Management: In a professionally written essay, please describe the current state of the therapeutic recreation industry, your salient experiences related to the industry, and how Springfield College will better prepare you for this industry. 

Resume

Please include any college activities, out-of-school leadership experiences, work history, and community involvement to support your interest in or qualifications for graduate study. Once your application form is processed you will receive an email with your application portal login credentials. Once you login to your application portal you'll be able to upload your resume

Letters of Recommendation

All programs require two letters of recommendation. Programs requiring a third letter are listed below. Recommenders will receive an email when you submit your application and will be able to upload your letter to your application.

Official Transcripts from All Institutions Previously/Currently Attended

  • An official transcript from each college/university you have attended is required.
  • Transcripts must be in English. If the transcript is not in English you will be required to submit a professional credential evaluation completed by any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. In some cases, including if you plan to request coursework be transferred, a course-by-course translation is required. For this we recommend the World Education Services or Josef Silny & Associates, Inc.

Art Therapy/Counseling Portfolio Guidelines

  1. A minimum of eight pieces
    1. Pieces should reflect your growth as an artist, ability to work with diverse media, skills and your creativity
    2. While choosing pieces to include in your portfolio, do not limit yourself to 2-D work (also show multiple views of 3-D pieces).
  2. Please include the following information for your work indicating
    1. Number
    2. Title of each piece
    3. Date of completion
    4. Medium used
    5. Approximate size of the piece
  3. Prerequisite courses must be complete or in progress to be eligible for admission to the program:
    • 12 credits in Psychology
    • 3 credits in Intro/General Psychology
    • 3 credits in Abnormal Psychology
    • 3 credits of an elective course in Psychology
    • 3 credits of a course in either Introduction to Art Therapy, a research course in psychology, or developmental psychology
  4. Please include a short artist statement

Athletic Training Supplemental Application Requirements

Education Supplemental Program Requirements

  • A full-year residency in a school (greater Springfield area) is required for fall and spring semesters for accepted students
  • All required MTELs must be passed before beginning the fall semester
  • transcript review of undergraduate and any prior graduate work is required prior to admission
  • Child and adolescent development is a required course prior to admission

  • Proof of English language proficiency by way of the TOEFL or IELTS. If your undergraduate degree was earned in the United States and you successfully completed College level English, we will consider English language proficiency met.
