Hong Kong Baptist University

Professor Ted France traveled to Hong Kong Baptist University in March 2016 as part of the Dr. Frank Fu Scholar exchange. France made three presentations while at Hong Kong Baptist University: “A Lasting Impact: Fostering Positive Youth Development through Sport,” “Playful Learning: Using Adventure to Teach Life Skills,” and “Strategies to Facilitate Adventure Learning Experiences.”

National Mentoring Summit

Center for Youth Development and Research Director Al Petitpas facilitated a workshop, titled “Strengthening the Mentor-Mentee Relationship,” at the National Mentoring Summit held in Washington, DC, in January 2016.

New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance

Professors Ted France and Al Petitpas, in collaboration with doctoral student Maura Bergin, conducted a workshop, titled “Building community partnerships: Connecting physical education, youth sport, and other physical activity contexts” and facilitated a training for the National Schools Program at the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Conference held in Verona, N.Y., in November 2015.

Center for Youth Development and Research Director Al Petitpas conducted a workshop, titled “Promoting positive youth development through sport and physical activity,” at the annual Character.Org Summit held in Atlanta, Ga., in October 2015

AthLife Foundation

Center for Youth Development and Research Director Al Petitpas conducted a half-day training workshop for academic coaches who are part of AthLife’s program that bring academic athletic counselors to high schools across the United States. The workshop was part of a three-day training that was held in Washington, DC, in July 2015.

National Schools Program

Professors Ted France and Al Petitpas conducted a training workshop for physical education teachers who implement the National Schools Program in elementary schools throughout the United States. The workshop, titled “Creating an educational context that promotes positive youth development,” took place in St. Augustine, Fla., in July 2015.
