First-Gen Students
Heather Dloughy arrived at Springfield College in 2021 as the first one in her family to go to college. Uncertain about what to expect and how to navigate this new experience, Heather was grateful to learn about and become a part of the College’s First Generation Student Mentoring Program.
"As the Student Trustee, my role is to represent the student body, but I understand that I don’t speak for everyone. Instead of just hearing from me, I talked to students about the Black and people of color experience at Springfield College, what they want to see change, and their current feelings."
