Top 10 Rules and Policies for Students Living in Residence Halls

1. You must be at least age 21 to possess and consume alcohol on campus. 

2. There are limits to how much alcohol you can possess on campus. This is equivalent to one 18-pack of 12-ounce beers or wine coolers, 1.5 liters of wine, or 1.75 liters of 80-proof alcohol for each person 21 or older. 

3. Drinking paraphernalia, such as drinking funnels, is prohibited. In addition, all manner of drinking games—including but not limited to "water" pong— and preparation of spiked punch or "jungle juice" are not allowed.

4. In living spaces where all residents are under the age of 21, empty alcohol containers may be considered a violation of the alcohol policy. 

5. The possession, use, and/or distribution of any illegal and/or controlled substances as defined by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and/or the federal government, is prohibited. This includes marijuana. 

6. Springfield College is a smoke- and tobacco-free campus. 

7. Under the smoking and tobacco policy, juuling and vaping (nicotine, non-nicotine, and/or marijuana) are not allowed on campus. Such items will be confiscated. 

8. You are responsible for the behavior of all your guests and visitors— whether they are affiliated with the College or not. 

9. Medical amnesty may be given to students who are actively seeking emergency medical assistance in connection with any medical emergency, including those related to alcohol or drug use. 

10. Students removed from housing due to disciplinary sanctions will forfeit any refund.
