Policies and Decisions
Deferred Admissions
Deferred admission is granted upon review of each individual’s reason(s) for requesting deferment. If the deferment is granted, the acceptance is extended to either the January semester or the following September.
Credit by Examination
Candidates for undergraduate degrees may qualify for degree credit and/or advanced courses by examinations under the Advanced Placement Program of the College Board or the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). For further information, please contact the director of admissions.
Candidates’ Reply Date
Since Springfield College operates on a rolling admissions plan, you may hear of our decision early in your senior year. Regardless of when the decision is made, admitted students are encouraged to submit their $300 nonrefundable deposit by June 1 to secure a place in the class.
The suggested deadline for candidates’ reply for transfer students is June 1. If admitted after June 1, enrollment deposit is due two weeks from the date on your financial aid award.
Confidentiality of Admissions Records
Our admissions process includes more than academic transcripts and standardized test results. We depend on the evaluation of teachers, counselors, headmasters, alumni, employers, and interviewers to learn as much about each candidate as possible.
All reports submitted in support of a candidate’s application become part of our confidential admissions file. The Office of Admissions protects the privacy of the applicant by limiting the accessibility of admissions folders to those officers and employees of the College officially concerned with the admissions process.
The reports in support of the application are used only for admissions purposes and do not become part of the permanent record if the candidate enrolls at Springfield College. Only the application, official transcript, and test results are forwarded to the Office of the Registrar.
