Dear Friends,
As many of you know, we salute Tamie Kidess Lucey '81, G'82 as she retired as Alumni Director on April 7. Tamie is the first woman, youngest appointed, and longest serving Alumni Director in the college's history. Having served her alma mater for nearly four decades, she has been part of this campus and the lives of countless alumni, faculty, staff, and student families throughout her time. She will leave behind a strong alumni program and large shoes to fill.
Under Tamie's leadership, annual alumni engagement events such as Reunion Weekend and Homecoming Weekend reached record highs for participation. Tamie has been a catalyst for setting up career networking events giving current students the opportunity to network with the wide-spread outreach of the Springfield College alumni network. She has been instrumental in keeping alumni engaged through the many alumni social events throughout the country, and she has led countless campus-wide student recruitment and retention initiatives.
On Saturday, June 10, Tamie will be at the Food Truck Festival at Reunion Weekend 2023 from 1-3:30 p.m. and would welcome the opportunity to see you.
As Tamie embarks on her next exciting chapter, we are delighted to announce that Deleney Magoffin ’05, G’11 has been named the next Director of Alumni Relations.
Del will join the Institutional Advancement team on Monday, April 24. She is a double alumna of Springfield College, having attended both undergraduate and graduate school here, and she will use her professional experiences within both alumni relations and admissions to inform her work going forward.
During the four years spent as the Associate Director within Alumni Relations, Del managed on campus and off campus programs and mobilized over 200 regional associations. She was also at the table when the college’s first ever Giving Day and Day of Recruitment were planned and executed. Additionally, Del spearheaded the first 40 Under Forty Awards Programming.
Since 2017 Del has deployed her talents in support of the college’s enrollment team where she has served as the Associate Director and Campus Visit Coordinator for Undergraduate Admissions. Del’s strategy to enhance the campus visit for prospective families, the coordination of student volunteers and the personal follow-up with countless prospective students as well as her ability to build partnerships with colleagues across campus has allowed the college to showcase all it has to offer to applicants.
In addition to Del’s professional experiences, her deep belief in our Humanics philosophy and respect for the history/traditions of the college will enable her to continue to support the alumni base at Springfield on the already strong foundation created by Tamie. Please join me in congratulating Del as she takes the helm in this pivotal role.
