Julia Chevan, PhD, professor of physical therapy and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy, received a Fulbright specialist award to teach and consult on curriculum and faculty research at the physiotherapy program at Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences in Dhulikhel, Nepal, from May to June of 2022.

Katherine Dugan, PhD, associate professor of religious studies, spoke about her book, titled Millennial Missionaries, on a podcast episode on the New Books Network in May 2022.

Brooke Hallowell, PhD, dean of the School of Health Sciences, participated in an Aphasia Access podcast, titled “Transforming person-centered care through LPAA knowledge: A conversation with Melinda Corwin and Brooke” in 2022.

Brian R. Hyer, MFA, assistant director of the Academic Success Center: Tutorial Services, led the effort for the center’s tutorial services to be awarded a four-year certification as a Level 1 certified tutor training program by the internationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Achieving this certification means Hyer has met the CRLA high standards for tutor selection, training, direct service, and evaluation as an integral part of the overall tutoring program.

Janine Spinola Taylor, EdD, assistant professor in the Department of Human Services, was recognized during the Inaugural College & University Presidents Ball as the inspiration for the organization African-American Female Professors Association (AAFPA), which began in 2017. President Mary-Beth A. Cooper was in attendance along with Calvin Hill, PhD, vice president of Inclusion and Community Engagement, and many students, including Mikaili Charlemagne (an Olympic swimmer), Class of 2023, who was honored and recognized as one of two recipients of an AAFPA scholarship.

Charlie A. Sullivan, MEd, professor of physical education and head men's volleyball coach, served as head coach of the USA U19 Boys' Volleyball National Team. The team competed in the Pan American Cup in Guatemala and went undefeated on its way to winning the gold medal. The team qualified for the U19 World Championship, which will be held in the summer of 2023.
