Tami Drummond, MEd, assistant director of the Academic Success Center: Academic Coaching, designed a program for the ASC’s peer academic coaches that has earned Level 1 International Peer Educator Training Program Certification from the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA). Administered each fall semester, the training program prepares academic coaches for excellence in professionalism, ethics, and mentoring. By achieving this certification, Drummond has met the CRLA high standards for peer coach selection, training, and evaluation.
Susan Milstein, PhD, assistant professor of Health Education, served as judge for the National Case Study Competition in Health Education in March 2024.
Andrew B. Perry, PhD, professor of Mathematics, served as a judge in February 2024 for the Association for Women in Mathematics 2024 Student Essay Contest, in which college, high school, and middle school students submitted essays on female mathematicians in a nationwide contest.
Sherri L. VandenAkker, PhD, professor of Literature, Writing, and Journalism, had her photograph, “Net Mender,” juried into the All New England Exhibit held at the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable, Mass., in October 2023. In addition, VandenAkker was juried into the Cape Cod Art Center as a fine arts photographer in July 2023.
Jacquelyn Wolf, veteran and military services coordinator, was appointed Region 1 delegate to the National Association of Veterans' Program Administrators (NAVPA) board of directors in October 2023 for a one-year term. As part of the NAVPA board’s mid-year conference, Wolf went to Washington, D.C., to represent the colleges and universities of Region 1, which include the New England states, New York, and New Jersey. A portion of this trip was spent talking to legislators in the House of Representatives and Senate about issues relating to military-connected students and the educational institutions that serve them.
