Samuel A.E. Headley, PhD, professor of Exercise Science, received a $20,370 grant in February 2025 from Sanostec Corp., maker of Max-Air® SwirlZZs™ nasal dilators, to conduct a clinical study of the nasal dilators to determine whether they “improve pulmonary responses indicative of enhanced exercise performance in apparently healthy, male, college varsity student-athletes.” Headley will serve as the principal investigator. Co-investigators include Luke Pelton, PhD, assistant professor of Exercise Science; Jeff Gagnon, MS, assistant professor of Physics; and Exercise Physiology graduate assistants Madison Lecher, Sarah Brownsteine, and Maura Tumelty.
