Why Become a Resident Assistant? | Springfield College

As a student, your experience living on campus is as important as your academic experience. Adjusting to living in a residence hall sometimes requires a little assistance. That is where the role of a resident assistant (RA) comes into play.

You could have a chance to engage in one of the premier leadership opportunities on campus by serving as an RA. That role is not just a job, but a chance to become part of a larger tradition of leadership at Springfield College.

RAs serve as the first point of contact for those living in the residence halls.

Duties include:

  • Assisting other students in finding campus resources
  • Hosting educational and social events
  • Documenting policy violations, and more

As an RA, you’ll:

  • Receive a housing waiver and a meal plan credit as part of your compensation
  • Develop leadership skills  that will serve you long after graduation
  • Support and engage your peers by creating welcoming communities
  • Build your resume with skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and communication
