Choosing a Major | Springfield College

What major should I choose?

For many medical fields, the field you earn your degree in is less important than taking the required coursework for admission into these programs.

Many applicants choose to pursue a health sciences, biology, or sports biology degree while at Springfield College, as these programs cover many of the course requirements for entry into most health sciences programs. Many may also choose to minor in chemistry, psychology, nutrition, or other fields. Please note that it is possible to enter medical school with any major.

Springfield College also offers health-related specific programs, such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, and communication sciences and disorders.

Is it all just science classes?

In preparing for health professions we encourage you to pursue a wide variety of experiences while in college, which may include participation in athletics, student clubs and activism, student government, community service, spiritual life, work experiences, and artistic pursuits. All Springfield College students take a variety of classes that support their general education, including humanities courses. Pre-health students come from diverse backgrounds and develop strong academic and leadership profiles based on their individual interests.
