Korey L. Boyd, PhD, assistant professor of physical education and health education, received the American Education Research Association 2023 Outstanding Paper Award in February 2023 for his research paper titled “Culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogies for and by Black and Latinx pre-service physical education teachers.”
Ian Delahanty, PhD, associate professor of History, was presented with the Suzanne and Caleb Loring Fellowship on the Civil War, Its Origins, and Consequences by the Massachusetts Historical Society (MHS) and Boston Athenaeum in February 2023. As part of the fellowship, Delahanty will conduct research on the history of cotton gin manufacturing in New England and how New England-born mechanics came to dominate the cotton gin manufacturing in the American South. His research will be conducted at the MHS and Boston Athenaeum for at least four weeks at each institution between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024.
Justine Dymond, MFA, PhD, professor of English, received the Springfield College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award from the Division of Inclusion and Community Engagement in March 2023. The award recognizes students, staff, faculty, and community members who have worked to create a more inclusive space at the institution and/or within the city of Springfield at large.
M. Susan Guyer, DPE, dean of the School of Physical Education, Performance, and Sport Leadership, and professor of Athletic Training, received the Excellence in Leadership Award from the Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association in January 2023. The award is given to an athletic trainer who through leadership and excellence has contributed significantly to the advancement of the athletic training profession. That same month, Guyer was also inducted into the Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts Hall of Fame. The honor goes to individuals who have worked or are working in the state of Massachusetts and have made significant contributions to the profession of athletic training, particularly at the state level.
