Akwasi Ampofo , PhD, associate professor of accounting, co-authored “ The effect of accounting for high performing employee services as a right of use asset on the balance sheet on nonprofessional investors judgments” in the Journal of Corporate Accounting & Finance in March 2023.

Korey L. Boyd , PhD, assistant professor of physical education and health education, and Mara Simon , EdD, assistant professor of physical education and health education, co-authored “It feels human ... ’: Reflective race research in kinesiology” in Sport, Education and Society in December 2022. Boyd was also a co-author of the chapter “Promoting Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) through Game-Based Approach (GBA) in Physical Education” in the book Teaching Games and Sport for Understanding .

Julia Chevan , PhD, professor of physical therapy and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy , co-authored “Building a foundation for health informatics content in physical therapy education through concept analysis and concept mapping” in the Journal of Physical Therapy Education in March 2023.

Justin Compton , PhD, associate professor of Environmental Science, co-authored “ Mammalian functional diversity and trait responses to anthropogenic and environmental factors across the contiguous USA” in Urban Ecosystems in March 2023. Compton also co-authored “Human presence drives bobcat interactions among the U.S. carnivore guild” in Biodiversity and Conservation in June 2022.

Chris Hakala , PhD, director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship, and professor of Psychology, co-edited the book In Their Own Words: What Scholars and Teachers Want You to Know About How and Why to Apply the Science of Learning in Your Academic Setting in March 2023.

Jasmin Hutchinson , PhD, professor of Exercise Science and Sport Studies and graduate program director for Sport and Exercise Psychology, authored “Affective responses to increasing-and-decreasing-intensity resistance training protocols” in the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology in February 2023. Hutchinson also co-authored “Preserving perfectionism: The relationship between perfectionism and self-handicapping in distance runners” in the Journal of Sport Behavior in 2023. Her co-author is Diana Curtis , a doctoral student in Sport and Exercise Psychology with an expected graduation in 2023.

Mark D. McCarthy , PhD, assistant professor of Literacy Education, co-authored “ Speculative futures and ‘found’ artifacts: Using fiction for defamiliarization and analysis” in Cultural Studies Critical Methodologies in 2022. McCarthy also authored “Considering collective motivation to read: A narrative, inquiry” in the Journal of Language and Literacy Education in 2022.

Ashley S. McNeill , PhD, assistant professor of chemistry in the Department of Biology and Chemistry and director of Pre-Health Professions Advising for Springfield College , co-authored “Absolute hydration free energy of small anions and the aqueous pKa of simple acids” in the Journal of Physical Chemistry A in December 2022.

Susan Milstein , PhD, assistant professor of Physical Education and Health Education, co-authored the chapter “ In search of pleasure: An examination of the current state of sexual pleasure education and research in the United States” in the book Sex education research: A look between the sheets in February 2023. 

Michelle E. Moosbrugger , PhD, professor of physical education and chair of the Department of Physical Education and Health Education, was the lead author on “ Pre-Service Teachers’ Perceptions and Experiences Implementing CATCH My Breath” in the American Journal of Health Education in November 2022. Her co-authors include assistant professors of physical education Timothy M. Losee, PhD; Christie M. Gonzalez-Toro, PhD; Staci R. Drewson, PhD; Peter J. Stapleton, PhD; and professors Shawn Ladda, PhD; and Irene Cucina, DPE.

Kathleen M. Neville , EdD, associate professor and program director for the PhD in Educational Leadership, co-authored “ Campus racial justice and decolonization expectations project” on the ACPA - College Student Educators International website in January 2023.

Oliver J.C. Rick , PhD, associate professor of Sport Management and Recreation, co-authored the book Global Sports and Contemporary China: Sport Policy, International Relations and New Class Identities in the People’s Republic in January 2023.

Daigo Yazawa , PhD, assistant professor of Sport Management, authored “ Cultural cues in NBA jersey designs: Examining the role of acculturation and psychological connection in consumer purchase decisions” in the International Journal of Sport Management in December 2022.
