Simone B.  Alter-Muri, EdD, professor of Art Therapy and director of Graduate Art Therapy/Counseling, served as curator and had her paintings and mixed media on display in the Refugees Resistance and Resilience Exhibition in the Burnett Gallery in Amherst, Mass., in September 2022.

Julia Chevan, DPT, PhD, professor of physical therapy and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy, spent the spring 2023 semester in Riga Latvia as a Fulbright scholar in the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program Award in Medical Sciences working with the faculty of rehabilitation at Riga Stradins University.

Harold InDelicato, MA, MFA, associate professor of Art and Design, exhibited his “Ink(?) on Paper #4” at the 2023 Pawtucket Foundation Juried Show at the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative Exhibition in Pawtucket, R.I., in March 2023. His ink drawing was used as a prompting seed for artificial intelligence, deep learning "artbot" interpretation utilizing disco diffusion. InDelicato also exhibited his original screen prints at the Sixth Annual Art of Darkness Art Exhibition at the HeARTspot Art Center and Gallery in East Providence, R.I., in November 2022. And in June 2022, InDelicato showed his works in the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College, and Community College of Rhode Island: Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni, and Retired Faculty Rhode Island State of the Arts Exhibit, part of the Providence Gallery Night.

Alexandra Ludwig, MFA, associate professor of Music and chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, conducted Josef Haydn's Missa in Angustiis (Lord Nelson Mass) with the South Hadley Chorale and Orchestra in Abbey Chapel at Mount Holyoke College in March 2023. The performance included a chorus of 50 singers and an orchestra of 21 players.

Andrew B. Perry, PhD, professor of Mathematics and Computer Science, served as a grader of the 83rd William Lowell Putnam mathematical competition, the most prestigious mathematics competition for undergraduates. The exam was held Dec. 6, 2022, and lasted six hours. Grading went from approximately December 15- January 15. Perry also served as a faculty judge for the Student Content in Undergraduate Differential Equation Modeling in a virtual competition in November 2022. Perry rendered scores and provided constructive feedback to high school and undergraduate students from around the world. Students were judged on their creation of a mathematics model using differential equations and preparation of a 10-minute video presentation on their work.

Oliver J.C. Rick, PhD, associate professor of Sport Management and Recreation, was featured on the Payne on Politics podcast on the topic of contemporary sport policy in China in March 2023.

Janine Spinola Taylor, EdD, assistant professor in the Department of Human Services, spoke on “A family story of Cape-Verdeans immigrating to the United States and the intersectionality of life world and systems world” at the Voices of Resilience: Celebrate International Women's Day 2023 at the Longmeadow (Mass.) Adult Center in March 2023.

Lori Vaughn, OTD, professor and co-chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy, and members of the Student Occupational Therapy Association Club, co-hosted the Sensory Friendly Night with the Springfield Thunderbirds at the MassMutual Center in Springfield in February 2023. The event was in collaboration with the Center for Human Development. The program received the Game Changer Award from the Thunderbirds "For finding a way to make a difference in our community."
