Walter Nadeau '70 was recently inducted into the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame in the builder category. A native of Berlin, Nadeau’s more than 30 years of service to the Berlin and Coos County Historical Society has established him as the keeper of the hockey legend in Berlin, overseeing a permanent exhibit that celebrates the city’s long and successful hockey history. The builder category recognizes individuals who have somehow given back to hockey in New Hampshire.
Daniel Dupuis '18 and Shannon Karbowski '18, DPT '20, were married on October 6, 2023 at The Towers in Narragansett, Rhode Island, surrounded by Springfield College friends and family.
Thank you to Chris Connelly '04, who recently was a special guest of the Computer Science Club. Connelly currently works as a Staff Software Engineer at Coinbase and has an impressive work history having spent time with Major League Baseball, Samsung Electronics and World Wrestling Entertainment. A computer graphics major, he has expertise in user interface (UI) architecture, front-end, design systems, web application and web video. He shared terrific industry advice with our current computer science students as well as tips on interviewing for jobs in the tech field. Students had an opportunity to ask Connelly a variety of questions. "SC is a hidden gem," said Connelly when reflecting on his student days.
A shout out to Prashant Timalsina, class of 2024, who designed the amazing backdrop to make it look like Connelly and his guest were sitting side by side. In addition, Jay Holmes, class of 2025, served as moderator.
Audrey-Ann Garner Hurtibus '68, recently completed the 2023 Virtual Race Across California, sponsored by the Mermaid Series, an organization helping to get women together and promote well being.
She committed to walk 200 miles in 100 days, and finished her goal in 55 days, only to have it suggested that she walk back. After 100 days of walking, she logged in 403 miles. This all started because she wanted to get back to running with her daughter after a 25 year hiatus.
Joel and Laura Buchan Cassidy hosted a group of 1992 Springfield College graduates Bob and Heather Lang Gailunas, Brian and Lori Bacon Fitzgerald, Stephen Gregory, and Sam Rothberg.
The Springfield College Office of Alumni Relations joined faculty and students at the annual Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (MAHPERD) convention.
Alumni Relations and the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) partnered to offer professional headshots for students as they build their LinkedIn presence and professional profiles. Students also had the opportunity to check out the Alumni House and write cards to veterans and current service members in honor of Veterans Day.
Women's Volleyball Alumnae Kayleigh Helgesen '18, Jenn Donnelly '19 and Haley DeRoche '18 were on campus recently for a match and visit with Coach Moira Long G'97.
Dr. Howard "Skip" Knuttgen '52 stopped by the Springfield College booth at the New England American College of Sports Medicine conference, sharing stories of his friendship with Dr. Peter Karpovich G'29 and other Springfield College memories.
