Springfield College’s Health Promoting Campus Plan

Springfield College has adopted an internal plan to guide the health promoting campus work. There are three major components to the College’s Health Promoting Campus plan:

Creating Supportive Campus Communities

Campus communities that support and develop health for all are those that embed health into all aspects of campus culture. All members of the Springfield College community will be engaged in continuing to address areas in which they can improve the health and overall well-being for students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Cultivate Flourishing For All

A flourishing community is one that enhances positive psychological, physical, and social functioning. The Humanics philosophy of spirit, mind, and body is directly tied to the ideals of a flourishing community at Springfield College. A healthy campus is one that creates an environment in which every member - students, faculty, and staff - of the campus community can flourish in the ways that make the most sense individually. Flourishing is also directly tied to equity, and well-being work is diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work. In creating a campus where all can reach their full potential, the College’s commitment to equity and inclusion is paramount.

Collaborate to Advance Health Promotion in the Community

The basic strategies for health promotion are to boost the factors that encourage individual health, enable all people to achieve health equity, and collaborate across sectors to do so.

Steering Committee

A Health Promoting Campus Steering Committee has been established to provide overall support and guidance to the campus. This committee is appointed by the Office of the President and charged with recommending and/or instituting changes that address aspects of the health promoting strategic framework. This steering committee will create short- and long-term plans to strategically address the three overarching components of the College’s Health Promoting Campus plan, and will continually assess the needs of the campus.
