Simone B. Alter-Muri, EdD, professor of Art Therapy and director of Graduate Art Therapy/Counseling, exhibited two mixed-media paintings at the Bridge of Flowers Art Show fundraiser in Shelburne Falls, Mass., in October 2023. Alter-Muri also exhibited four plein air paintings as part of the Amherst (Mass.) Plein Air Society fundraiser for the Kestral Land Trust from September to December 2023.
Lara R. Curtis, PhD, instructor in the Department of Literature, Writing, and Journalism, was selected to participate in the 2023 Curt C. and Else Silberman Faculty Seminar at the Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, located at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. The two-week seminar was held in June 2023 and its theme was "Interdisciplinary approaches to teaching about Holocaust violence in the college classroom.”
Andrew B. Perry, PhD, professor of Mathematics and Computer Science, served as a grader of the 83rd William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, the most prestigious mathematics competition for undergraduates, in December 2022. Perry also served as a faculty judge for the Student Content in Undergraduate Differential Equation Modeling in a virtual competition in November 2022. Perry rendered scores and provided constructive feedback to high school and undergraduate students from around the world.
