Korey Boyd, PhD, assistant professor of Physical Education, received a $5,000 grant in November 2023 to conduct a multi-year study titled, “May the force be within physical education: Promoting Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) though Game-Based Approach (GBA).” The grant is funded by the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education (NAKHE) Board. Boyd will work with an international research team on the project. To start the multi-stage data collection process, the purpose of the NAKHE Hellison Interdisciplinary Research is to gather the perspectives and feedback of NAKHE higher education scholars, including graduate students in Kinesiology, on using GBA to promote JEDI in physical education. The research team is especially interested in collecting data from NAKHE scholars who are social justice experts, and DEI work in Kinesiology. They will be able to provide global perspectives on the pedagogical and JEDI matters.
