Simone B. Alter-Muri, EdD, professor and director of art therapy/counseling and art education, virtually exhibited her artwork at the Learning from COVID-19 Experiences Project at Florida State University. The art exhibit was an international collaboration organized by American art therapists from Florida State University, and occurred in February 2022 through the professional exchanges of United States and Russian art therapists, mental health professionals, educators, and students.

Laurel R. Davis-Delano, PhD, professor of sociology, testified virtually before the Vermont Legislature Education Committee on mascot bill, S.139 “An act relating to nondiscriminatory school branding,” in February 2022.

Linda Davis-Delano, PhD, director of educator preparation and licensure and professor of physical education, gave written and oral testimony to the Massachusetts Legislature Joint Committee on Education in support of the Massachusetts Educator Diversity Act (H.682 and S.366) virtually in October 2021. If passed, this comprehensive bill will increase the recruitment and retention of diverse educators and improve hiring bias training and data transparency.

Martin Dobrow, MA, professor of communications, and Kris Rhim ’21, continued their “Liberty, Justice, and Ball” podcast started in 2020. The podcast, sponsored by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, focused on the social justice stories of basketball legends, including Jerry West, Tamika Catchings, Sidney Moncrief, Tina Thompson, and Ann Meyers Drysdale during the 2021-22 academic year.

Harold InDelicato, MFA, assistant professor of art and design, published an original ink drawing in Thought Art Magazine, Issue 05. He also exhibited an original figure drawing at the “Human Faces and Figures” art exhibition in January 2022 at the Las Laguna Art Gallery in Laguna Beach, Calif. InDelicato exhibited an original limited print at the fifth annual Art of Darkness exhibition at the HeARTspot Art Center and Gallery in East Providence, R.I., in November 2021.

The BLENDi Pro portable blender, created by Jon Katz ’19, was featured in a demonstration on the syndicated Tamron Hall Show in March 2022.

Stephen A. Roulier, vice president for communications and external affairs, has been elected to serve a one-year term on the Public Relations Society of America Counselors to Higher Education Executive Committee. This will be Roulier’s second stint on the executive committee, first serving from 2005-2015.
