The ESports and Gaming Management minor at Springfield College is designed for students passionate about the intersection of gaming, business, and community engagement. This interdisciplinary program explores essential business strategies and community-building practices within the esports and gaming industries, covering topics such as marketing, event management, sponsorship, and team operations. Through coursework and hands-on projects, students will learn to develop effective marketing campaigns and manage esports events while examining how gaming fosters social connections and can promote inclusivity and social responsibility.

This minor helps to provide the context for the esports and gaming consumers, and the potential ways that gaming modalities can be used to reach multiple constituents. The gaming industries are unique in nature, as multinational corporations such as Nintendo, Epic Games, Twitch, Electronic Arts, and Roblox look to hire game specialists, marketers, communication specialists, game developers, and programmers who are familiar with the gaming communities. Additionally, competitive esports is a growing division of high school and collegiate programs. Gaming is also becoming an intervention modality for clinical and outpatient-based therapies for a variety of clients, including elderly dementia patients, autistic individuals, and to treat mental health disorders. Students in this minor will be able to develop an understanding of how their major course of study could be impacted by esports or gaming, or vice versa.
