Springfield College Alumni Council President Nate Harris '08 has been named the new general manager for the The Greater Richmond Convention Center (GRCC), the largest meeting and exhibition facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Harris brings more than 15 years of experience in venue management, marketing, and business development to the GRCC. He has a proven track record of operational excellence and innovative leadership in the events and entertainment industry. Read the full story...

It was a great day for a baseball game as Springfield College Maine area alumni and friends recently gathered in Portland for a Sea Dogs game. Great weather, great conversations and a wonderful opportunity for fellow alumni to connect! In photo from left to right: Judy Watson Ingram '63, Haley Moody '24, and Tom Lindstedt '66.

Celebrating 58 years since they first met at Springfield College, Judy Konrad Xirouhakis, MaryJane (MJ) O'Horo Whitehead, Karen Willis Barmmer, Janet Hastings Dummer and Nancy Maltese Pollock, all members of the Class of 1970, recently enjoyed spending time together on Crete.

Dave Swords '78 continues to run into SC alumni! This past weekend Swords was at Woods Hole Golf Club and ran into Barry Weinberg '73 whom he had never met. Last month while hiking in the White Mountains, Swords met up with his former Alumni Hall floormate, Steve Scribner '75 whom he had not seen in 47 years. Which SC alum will Dave run into next?
 
Weinberg, now retired, spent many years in Major League Baseball as an athletic trainer with the NY Yankees, Oakland A's and St. Louis Cardinals. He is also the author of Eating My Way Through Baseball.
 
Dave reports that his team won the golf match.

This month's visitors to the Alumni House included Brenda Murphy Robinson '77 and her husband Rick Robinson '76, G'77, who were visiting from North Carolina.

Also stopping by the Alumni House recently were Patty Angell Barbalunga DPE '77, Maddison O'Hayer '11 and Scott Picard '11

Marcy and Rick Warner '79 were married on August 23, at Harvey Reservation in Gloucester, Mass. Congratulations to the happy couple!

This photo, taken off the coast of Koge in Denmark features Marty Rodweller, G'81, Amy Greer Cole '83 and Mark Cole '81 aboard the tall ship Atlantis. The Gloucester Gig Rowers spent eight days sailing and biking through Denmark and Sweden.

Jim Cameron '65 writes "I was at the YMCA in Moneta, VA and I was playing tennis with a guy with a Springfield College hat on. I said "Did you go to Springfield College?" Chuck Koyanagi shared that he graduated from SC in 1959. What a great conversation we had about our times at Springfield College. At 88 and 84 we are still somewhat competitive on the court.

Jeffery Allen '81 shared he is starting a new position as manager for FINIS Swim Team and Coach Outreach at FINIS, Inc.
 
Aaron Patterson '96, G'98, has been named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Springfield College.
 
Sentara Health has named Kristen Keenan '06 Director, Laboratory Services of Laboratory Outreach.
 
Michael Russo '06, G'07, has a new role at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as Senior Director, Peri-Op/Surgical Advanced Practice.
 
The Minnesota Frost of the PWHL have named Melissa Caruso '09 General Manager. Caruso joins the Frost after 15 years in a variety of roles with the American Hockey League where she has overseen off-ice aspects of the AHL's day-to-day operations since 2019.
 
Arnold Lane, G'16, shared that he is starting a new position at UMass Amherst as Director for Strategic Advancement of Equity & Campus Climate in the Office of Equity & Inclusion.
 
Dina Pitsas '17, G'19, has been promoted to Clinical Trial Project Manager II at Mass General Cancer Center.
 
UMass-Amherst has named Kelsey Armstrong, G'18, Associate Director of Athletics for Academic Success.
 
Alison Izzi '18 has been promoted to Vice President, Hockey Operations/Governance of the American Hockey League where she is looking forward to leading the AHL's Hockey Operations Department.
 
Anna Orfanidis '18 has accepted an Athletic Trainer position at the University of the Virgin Islands where she will be assisting in building their sports medicine department.
 
Lexi Pace '19, G'21, is starting a new position as a Personal Trainer at Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness.
 
Monique Forte '20, G'22, has been promoted to Senior Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
 
Jaclyn O'Keefe, G'20, is the recently named Events and Communications Coordinator at UMass-Amherst.
 
Emmanuel Amenlemah '22 announced he has started a new role as Customer Care Specialist at MassMutual.
 
Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA has named Lucas Van Deventer '22 Associate Director of Athletic Media Relations. Lucas writes he cannot wait to get back to Division III collegiate sports, specifically media relations.
 
Mikaili Charlemagne '23 co-authored an article which appeared on The Commonwealth Fund website entitled "How Community-Led Health Models Can Thrive with Federal Funding".
 
A recent graduate of the Springfield College Industrial and Organizational Psychology program, Ceren Buyuksekerci, G'24, has been hired by Amazon as a Trainer.
 
MJ McGillicuddy '24 has been hired by the Agawam Public Schools as a Health Educator and is teaching at Agawam Junior High School.
 
Hampden Parks and Recreation have named Alex Soares, G'24, Recreation Coordinator.
 
The Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League have announced a series of front office promotions. Drew Supernor '14 has been promoted to Senior Manager of Brand Development and Merchandise.  He has grown the Thunderbirds' merchandise revenues each season since the club's inception in 2016 with many unique product lines. Steve Brousseau '21 has been promoted to Account Executive, Membership Sales and Service. Brousseau will specialize in servicing the Thunderbirds' season ticket members throughout the 2024-25 season.

Hosts MaryLynn '81 and Barry Jacobs hosted an evening of alumni and friends in Orleans, Mass, with special guest President Mary-Beth Cooper and Dave Cooper. Alumni in the Cape Cod area had a chance to connect and share some of their favorite Springfield College stories.  

Springfield College alumnus Mark Elgart '81 hosted special guest President Mary-Beth Cooper, as well as alumni and friends, at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, September 29, 2024. The group had the opportunity to watch the Atlanta Braves take on the Kansas City Royals on the final Sunday of the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season. The day provided a special moment for attendees to connect and share what makes Springfield College such a special place. It's always a great day when Springfield College alumni and friends have the chance to stay connected.
