Springfield College student Connor Joyce '26 received the Molly Gorman Bourne ’05 Scholarship Award during Stepping Up Day ceremonies inside the Campus Union. Presenting Joyce with his honor was Molly’s sister, Kelsey Anne Sullivan, and Aaron Dombroski '05.
The Molly Gorman Bourne '05 Scholarship Fund was created by Molly’s sister, Kelsey Anne Sullivan, and Meghann '06 and Aaron '05 Dombroski in recognition of their friend and classmate, Molly Gorman Bourne. Molly was a motivated business administration major, student government vice president, resident assistant, new student orientation leader, and captain of the ski team, which is where she earned the nickname “Rockstar.”
Molly excelled and went “all in” with everything she put her mind to, leading her peers with integrity, dedication, and passion. She truly embodied our Humanics philosophy. Whether she was lifting the heaviest weights, saving lives in the Emergency Room as a nurse, leading with grit, grace, and determination, or simply laughing, Molly inspired everyone. With this scholarship, we honor Molly by continuing her legacy of inspiring others and making a difference in this world.
You never know who may stop by the Alumni House to say hello. Michael Furblur '90, who lives in Switzerland, recently paid us a visit. A Springfield College gymnast during his student days, Furblur had the opportunity to connect with his former coach and recent Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Steve Posner and join the campus community for Maroon Club.
Springfield College runs in Furblur's family as his father, Ernest, graduated in 1960 and was also a gymnast. If you are in the area, please stop by! The Alumni House is located at 258 Middlesex Street.

Karl Quinn'82 story of meeting Wilt Chamberlain - During my freshman year at Springfield College in 1978, I was attending my Oral English class. During the class, I heard Wilt Chamberlain was being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame that day. Apologies to my professor, I decided to excuse myself to head to the Hall of Fame which was at the end of the Springfield College Campus to see if I could get in. At the front door, they said we were not allowed, but said if I went out back Mr. Chamberlain will be waiting for his limo. As I walked around to the back parking lot, sure enough there was Wilt leaning up against a car. Probably the tallest person I have seen in my life at that time. I walked over to Mr. Chamberlain and asked for his autograph, which at the time, the only piece of paper I had was a page from my Oral English assignment. He graciously signed on the back side of the page I had. Fast forward 46 years, I still have the autograph and was attending a regional medical networking event in Springfield at Max's Restaurant, which happens to be connected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. I decided to show up early to see if I could find Wilt Chamberlain’s display and get my picture taken with me holding his autograph. When I arrived at 4 p.m., it was closing time. As I walked up to the front desk, I hear the gentleman announcing over the sound system that the HOF is now closed. I told him I was hoping to get a picture with me holding Wilt’s autograph I got when he was inducted in 1978. The guy said let’s go over here in the foyer where Wilt has a display, and I can take your picture. After taking the picture, he says better yet, let’s go upstairs to the main HOF archives and get a picture of you in front of his original Philadelphia jersey he wore when he scored 100 points. Since graduating from Springfield College in 1982, this was my first time in the Hall of Fame since they moved off the Springfield College campus. I only had enough time to get my picture taken with Wilt's display, but I will have to go back and take the full tour. I do want to thank the attendant at the Hall of Fame for allowing me to have my picture taken after closing hours.

Be sure to read about Mark St. Pierre '72 and his film "Mallard’s Road," a Lakota Produced, Romantic Dramedy set around Kyle S.D in the heart of the Pine Ridge Reservation. It is the story of Rolly Lamoreaux, hitting thirty-five, still single, related to half the women in the community, who desperately wants to start his own life. Read the full story...
In June of 2024, St. Pierre also shared that he was working on the production of "With You In Spirit." Written by Mark, "With You In Spirit" is a unique, Native-made feature film project currently being produced on the Pine Ridge Native American Reservation in South Dakota. The cast and crew of the film were all local, most of them living on the reservation, who had been attending filmmaking workshops and cast rehearsals. The film project was made possible through a grant from the Department of Agriculture to the non-profit Native arts school, Cloud Horse Art Institute and the Reel Jobs Film School, located in Kyle, South Dakota, which is on the northern edge of Pine Ridge.
Check out trailers to some of St. Pierre's works: "Who Will Burry the Dead? The Death of Christianity in Lakota County?", "Mato Paha," and "Mallard's Road."
