You never know where you may run into Springfield College alumni!  The men's and women's diving team were recently competing at RPI in Troy, NY. At dinner, their server happened to be fellow alum, Kimberly Thompson '18, who studied health science and currently also works for the NY State Department of Health.

Springfield College alumni Morgan Powell, G'16, Grace Dzindolet '22, G'24, and Bob Accorsi, G'80, visited professor Leila Riley's Social Issues in Sport and Recreation class. 

For their final project, students explored contemporary issues in sport and recreation and pitched realistic solutions to increase or enhance an organization's impact on their chosen issue. Thank you to Morgan, Grace, and Bob, who brought a real-world element into the classroom. Leveraging their varied professional experiences, they were able to provide students practical feedback on their organizational recommendations.

Stu Davis '91 recently ran into Rosanne Captain, G'15, while grocery shopping in Florida. Both are also former SC employees. 

Davis is currently Community Relations and Member Development Manager for First Florida Credit Union. He earned his bachelor's degree from Springfield College in business management and marketing.

Captain retired from SC after serving more than 20 years as Assistant Vice-President for Administration & Finance.

Thank you to all Springfield College men's lacrosse alumni, family and friends who gathered together on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Warehouse Kitchen + Sports Bar in Boston! It was a day filled with reconnecting with former teammates, sharing stories, and learning more about the team's recent accomplishments and future goals. 

Led by head coach Sean Quirk '95, G'97, it was an event that strengthened the SC lacrosse network and celebrated what it means to be a part of the "Chief Dawg" lacrosse family. SC men's lacrosse opens their home season on February 26 at 4 PM against Union College on Stagg Field. Photo Gallery...

For Springfield College alumnus Greg Procino '05, G'07, he has been a part of the Hoophall Classic at Springfield College since its inception in 2002. Over the last 24 years, he has witnessed the event grow from a one-day event to a five-day high school basketball showcase. During these times, he has also enjoyed watching current students gain hands-on professional experience working the event, while also viewing more and more alumni using the Hoophall weekend as a way to stay connected. For both alumni and current students, the Hoophall experience represents a moment when many found their professional calling.

Springfield College alumnus David DePasquale ’92 and his wife Jennifer had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Panini Hoophall Classic at Blake Arena and watch their son Derek (Class of 2027) serve as one of this year’s head supervisors during the biggest high school basketball showcase in the county. 

This year’s event was a little extra special for the entire family as Derek was one of the co-recipients of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Scholarship, placing a bow on a great weekend. Full Story...

Joseph Virgadamo '05 returned to campus during the 2026 Panini Hoophall Classic. Virgadamo has been coaching for 20 years, and teaching physical education for 21 years at Haldane High School in Cold Spring, NY.

Virgadamo returned to Springfield for the second year in a row and brought his team to Blake Arena to watch the Hoophall Classic. He majored in Physical Education, was a member of the men’s basketball team, and participated in the Partner’s Program while at Springfield College. Having the chance to visit campus is always special for Virgadamo.

“It brings back great memories,” explained Virgadamo. “My Springfield College experience provided me with foundations of respect and helping people. My Springfield College education helped me become a better everything. If I didn’t come to Springfield College, I wouldn’t be the teacher, person, husband, father, fiend, that I am today.”

Virgadamo cherished the opportunity to be back at Springfield College and be a part of the Hoophall experience. The strong friendships with classmates and connections with professors are memories that came flooding back in Virgadamo’s mind when being back on Alden Street. 

Springfield College Event Coordinator Karen Joy '24, center, once again joined her teammates in the Office of Conferences and Special Events (CASE) to help lead the efforts in hosting the 2026 Panini Hoophall Classic at Blake Arena.

Whenever Brian Gogerty ’10 steps back into Blake Arena for the Panini Hoophall Classic, he’s filled with a calming sense of homecoming. 

This year, as in years past, he was invited to return as a game official, overseeing multiple matchups throughout Hoophall Weekend. It’s a tradition he eagerly anticipates each year—and this time was no exception.

“I love coming back to Springfield College because it always feels like home when I return,” expressed Gogerty. “As a student, I was involved in the Hoophall Classic all four years, as both a team liaison and head supervisor. I also worked for Kathy Smith in Conferences and Special Events. Over time, I discovered I enjoyed officiating, and now coming back to work Hoophall allows me to stay connected with the College I love.” Full Story...

Just a little over 10 years ago, Kelly Dullard ’15 had a career-defining moment as a student in a class led by Springfield College Sport Management professor Bob Accorsi, G'80. The moment occurred when Dullard had to write down what he hoped to accomplish as part of the Sport Management major. Fast forward to the 2026 Panini Hoophall Classic, Dullard’s goals were on display when he returned to Blake Arena as the Director of Athletics for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California.

“As part of professor Accorsi’s class, I wrote down my future goal was to become an athletic director,” explained Dullard, who was in attendance at this year’s Hoophall Classic watching Mater Dei’s boys and girls teams compete in high school basketball’s biggest showcase. Full Story...

When Springfield College alumnus Justin Dalessio ’00 returned to Blake Arena for the 2026 Panini Hoophall Classic on Thursday, January 15, it was an exciting moment because as he describes it, “There is always a special atmosphere inside Blake Arena, especially during the Hoophall Classic. It’s one of my favorite venues, and it’s the perfect setting for this great event.”

Dalessio continues to serve as the head basketball coach for the Pope Francis Prep boys basketball team located in Springfield, Mass. At this year’s Hoophall event, Pope Francis took on city rival Springfield Central High School in day one’s premiere match-up. Full Story...

Peg Ferguson Boyd '95 has co-authored Human Resources: A Student and Practitioner's Guide. 

The ebook provides readers with a foundational understanding of the human resources field. It focuses on the pivotal roles and functions of HR within organizations with emphasis on how HR contributes to the efficacy of a company's workforce and its objectives. The interactive ebook is now live through Cognella and available for course adoption nationwide.

Boyd is a member of the Springfield College Alumni Council, currently serving as Immediate Past President. She is currently an Associate Teaching Professor in the Management area at the University of Rhode Island. With a commitment to teaching excellence, Dr. Boyd uses flip classroom pedagogy and case structure to enhance the applied application of theory to practice. 

Dr. Boyd teaches both undergraduate and graduate classes with a focus on Organizational Behavior, Change Management, Strategic Management, Innovation of Business, and Leadership. From 2021-2025, Dr. Boyd was the Director of the Schmidt Center for Labor Relations and Human Resources and Graduate Programs. She currently oversees external outreach and conferences for the SLRC.

For the first time since the 2021 season, the Springfield College men's volleyball team will open the campaign ranked first in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Poll. 

Since the AVCA began the Division III poll in 1996 – a span of 404 total rankings – Springfield has been in the top spot 136 times and has appeared in all 404 polls. Springfield is the only Division III men's volleyball program to be ranked in every AVCA Division III national poll and has been number one more than anyone else in the country. Only Springfield and Juniata have been ranked first over 100 times.

Iris Clyburn Leak '85 invited Diane Cavaliere '85 down to her house in Georgia for Christmas this year. They are both proud members of the Class of 1985. They met in the fall of 1981 and have been friends for 45 years and counting. Distance never matters!

Valli Meeks '77 and Phyllis K. Lerner '71 found each other in Pikesville, MD around the holidays. Given their years in Rwanda and at Springfield College, their meeting in person make the holidays that much more special.
Joel Daoust '04 has been promoted to Sergeant at the Massachusetts State Police (MSP).
 
Nate Harris '08, General Manager for the Greater Richmond Convention Center,  has been named to the "Top 100 People to Meet in 2026" list by Virginia Business.
 
The Boston Red Sox have named Michael Cometa '11 as Senior Director, Season Ticket Services.
 
Mark Silverman '11 is now a Regional Sales Manager at Aegis Sciences Corporation.
 
After serving seven years at the Valley of the Sun YMCA in Phoenix, Arizona, David Burckhard '11, G'12, is stepping into the role of Chief Operating Officer with the YMCA of Metro Denver.
 
Ron Guido, G'15, is starting a new position as SBA Finance Specialist at Provide, powered by Fifth Third Bank, in New York City.
 
Daniel Vega, G'15, has been selected as Puerto Rico's Strength and Conditioning Coach for the World Baseball Classic.
 
Nash Silverman '16 earned her MBA from NYU Stern with a focus in Strategy, Finance, and Global Business.
 
Jordyn Moquin Burke '17 started a new position as Workstream Lead, Strategic Planning and Delivery at MassMutual.
 
Stuart Sokoloff '17 wrote Breaking Into Sports: The Real Guide to Landing Your Dream Joba book that helps readers understand the sports industry, how it functions, and how to land a career in the field.
 
The Boston Red Sox have named Zachary Bamberger '18 as Associate, Baseball Communication & Media Relations.
 
Grayson Carter '20 started a new position as Senior Technical Media Producer at Gray Media in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Samantha Stratton '21, G'23, has been named Varsity Head Coach of Girls Basketball at Ludlow High School in Ludlow, Mass.
 
Evan Metzger '22 completed his Master of Science in Sports Analytics at David B. Falk College of Sport at Syracuse University.
 
Alli Mowry '22 graduated from Northeastern University with her MBA, and started a new position at Care New England as an Associate Compensation Analyst. She also completed the Compensation Analyst Academy program to become a CCA (Certified Compensation Analyst).
 
Getuar Preniqi '24 recently started a new position as a Cost Accountant at Cartamundi in East Longmeadow, Mass.
 
Blake Brackett '24 has completed one month in his new role with the Town of Andover, Mass., working as a Program Coordinator with Andover Recreation.
 
Arsen Shtefan '24, G'25, recently became a Remote Operations Coordinator at ESPN in Bristol, Conn.
 
Reese Merritt '25 started a new position as a Freelance Broadcast Associate at the MLB Network in Secaucus, New Jersey.
