Noiel Fontaine '88 recently finished the Mainly Aloha Marathon in Kauai, Hawaii—his 50th marathon state. Fontaine ran this marathon as a fundraiser for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age 12. Over the years, that diagnosis led Fontaine to more than 160 hospital nights and multiple surgeries. The funds he has raised will help send kids living with this disease to summer camp—places where they can feel normal, supported, and understood. Congrats Noiel on living our Humanics philosophy.

Fontaine explained, "Running and sports became my outlet at a young age—physically, but even more so mentally. Running quiets my mind. It teaches patience. It reminds me that life isn’t about speed; it’s about endurance. And as I learned from my retired lacrosse coach, Keith Bugbee, G'84, it’s about showing up every day."

Three generations of Springfield College alumni were represented recently at the YMCA of Frederick County’s Annual Meeting in Frederick, Maryland.

Emma Rodgers ’07 (Director of Health and Wellness), Tim Dunn ’98 (Vice President of Facilities and Information Technology), and Richard Foot ’68 (YMCA Volunteer and member of YMCA Alumni - New England Chapter), came together for the event, which highlighted the YMCA’s impact in the community and featured the presentation of the Association’s Philanthropist of the Year award. Though their class years span nearly four decades, all three share common professional roots in the YMCA movement and the human-centered mission that Springfield College has championed since its founding.

Moments like this reflect the enduring reach of Springfield’s legacy in leadership, service, and social responsibility—and the way alumni continue to cross paths in organizations dedicated to strengthening communities and improving lives.
