Brown is making a difference inside the classroom and beyond, and building on a passion for working with, and helping to guide, young people that goes back to the days when she was a summer camp counselor.
“I grew up in Springfield myself, and I love the fact that I can build these relationships with my students where they can see a teacher that they can relate to,” said Brown, adding that she’s always focused on making an impact that goes beyond a day’s lessons in English. “Not only are we focusing on academics in the classroom, we’re also teaching them about the foundations of life and how to be successful outside these four walls.”

Bob Accorsi, G'80, Kevin McAllister, and Ben Taylor '99, G'15 helped raise more than $11,000 in honor of their great friend Kenneth A. Wall, G'73, DPE'75. The bike crew thanks everyone who helped contribute and supported such a special ride!
The trip titled, “Miles for Wall, Futures for All,” was a bike ride of more than 600-miles. The journey was filled with great connection with alumni and friends, and many memories of the bike crew bonding together while overcoming challenges presented by mother nature and flat tires. Most importantly, the trip was about people coming together to help achieve a special goal for the Dr. Kenneth A. Wall International Travel Award.
Hosted by Jackie Pires Foran '11, right, and her father Glenn Pires '80, Bob Accorsi, G'80, Kevin McAllister, and Ben Taylor '99, G'15, connected in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on their "Miles for Wall, Futures for All" journey. Christie Mehlhorn Gialloreto, G'96, provided mental performance and mental health support for the Team Canada Para Snowboarders.
