There was another proud Springfield College recently made at the Arthur "C" Luf Children's Burn Camp at Camp Trexler in Kunkletown, PA. Deanna Mangieri, G'17 and Tom Brown '80 recently met at the camp a weeks ago as they shared the spirit of our Humanics philosophy as they remained dedicated to service to others.

The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp is a one-week summer camp for severally burned children, ages 8-18. Children attend this camp from all over the world. The staff at the camp includes firefighters, and medical/mental health professionals from leading burn centers throughout the country. This camp provides a one-week, fun-filled camp experience, where campers meet others who have suffered the same injuries. This allows individuals to not only heal physically, but psychologically as well.

Since graduating, Deanna has provided therapeutic counseling services in a variety of settings and communities. She now owns her own practice, Mindful Therapeutic Solutions, LLC. Deana continues to enjoy living in New England and connecting with the Springfield community.

Tom just finished his 32nd year as a counselor. He was named "Counselor of the Year in 2003." In addition, Tom was honored by the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) at the National Burn Camp in Washington D.C., along with other counselors and campers of the year across the United States and Canada.

Springfield College Department of Athletic Training Chair Jessica Barrett '05 and Associate Professor of Athletic Training Brett A. Winston, G'14, PhD'18, helped lead an alumni gathering during the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) conference in Philadelphia.

This was a great opportunity for alumni and friends to reconnect, enjoy the strength of our AT community, and pay homage to the Springfield College Athletic Training Legacy of Excellence.

In late April, Diane Cavaliere '85 met up with Johnny Gutierrez '85 in Miami.

Johnny and Diane met in the fall of 1981 when they were first-year students on Alden Street. Although Johnny transferred after his first year on campus, the two friends have stayed in touch over the past 48 years.

Thank you Alexis Ricciardi for sending in this terrific photo of a visit in Milford, Conn. with fellow Class of 2009 friends, Nicole Williamson and Kasey Calderone.

At left, Alexis, Nicole, and Kasey all enjoyed their time together on Alden Street and it's great to see those connections only getting stronger as SC alumni!

Billy "BJ" Sturdivant '08, Justin Riddick '10 and Anthony Castiglione '10 got together for a weekend in Dewey Beach, Delaware to celebrate BJ's 40th Birthday.

Summer is a wonderful time to connect with SC friends! Members of the Class of 2015 and Class of 2016 recently returned to our campus and enjoyed some time together on Alden Street!

Stopping by for a visit earlier this month were Kathleen Burke '16, G'18; and her mom, Maureen Burke, G'16. 2016 is a special year as they both graduated from Springfield College, Kathleen with her bachelor's in Occupational Therapy and Maureen with her master's in Education.

Also visiting was Maitoe Suppakorn '24. Suppakorn is currently working on his MBA and coaching soccer at Clark University.

Congratulations and best wishes to Allie Goddard '19 and Brandon Eckles '18 who were married on June 12 in Newport, RI! The happy couple were surrounded by many Springfield College family and friends, including the bride's uncle, Mike Fair '89, G'92.

"It was so special to have so many Springfield College connections celebrating with us...it made the day even more meaningful," shared the happy couple.

Thank you to all of our alumni, parents, family and friends who joined us for a fun night at Polar Park in Worcester, Mass. to cheer on the Worcester Red Sox.

Not only did we get to watch the Boston Red Sox of the future, but we enjoyed a delicious dinner, a photo on the field, and post-game fireworks!

It was a beautiful night for baseball as alumni, families, and friends gathered to watch the New Hampshire Fisher Cats take on the Somerset Patriots at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Stephen E. Hickman DVM '68 was recently recognized by the Canton (Ohio) City Health Department for his 39 years of service on the Board of Health by naming the newly remodeled department's Board Meeting Room after him. Approximately 10 of those service years were as the President Pro Tempore of the Board. Dr. Hickman finally retired in 2020 from private practice at Mellett Animal Hospital which he had founded in 1984.

David Hoffman, G'81, recently published "Anticipating Challenging Changes: Principles Must Be the Backbone of Our Approach" in the Annals of Bioethics and Clinical Applications, encouraging healthcare leaders to remain grounded in ethical principles while navigating today's complex and rapidly changing medical landscape. David is a Clinical Professor, Department of Health, Policy, Management and Behavior, College of Integrated Health Sciences at the University at Albany.

Daniel Ovitt '91, G'92, is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Oncologic Physical Therapy.

Peter Gillen '04, G'07, has been hired as the new Longmeadow Middle School's first principal, effective July 16.

Carla Lide-Buglione, G'11, has joined SAX Wealth Advisors as Director of Athletes, Artists and Entertainers.

Victor Barbosa '13, a graduate of the Communications/Sports Journalism program, now covers the Milwaukee Brewers for SI.com.

Bill Ferguson '14, G'17, has been promoted to Sales Executive at ADP.

Catholic University has named Dahmir Noel, G'19, Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations.

Jessica Storch '20, DPT '22, is excited to share that she has officially passed the Pediatric Certified Specialist (PCS) exam through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Simao Cabral '22 has a new role as Senior Analyst on the Personal Insurance Product Management Southern Region Team at Travelers.

Max Gryzmala '24 has been hired by NYU as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Central Connecticut State University has named Alexis Castrom, G'25, Assistant Women's Basketball Coach.
