Springfield College Alumni News and Notes

ben and jen

When Ben Robbins, Class of 2030, opened the door to Reed Hall room 402, he expected to see the room where he would begin his college career. Instead, he found a piece of his mother’s past.

“I swear this was my room,” repeated Jen Libby, Ben’s mother, throughout the move-in process. Despite Ben’s doubts, Libby had lived there during her junior year back during her time as an undergraduate at Springfield College from 1989 to 1993. Full Story...

Jordana Harrison, '13, MBA, has accepted the role of Senior Administrative Director for the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) in the AMC Department of Medicine at Mass General Brigham, effective September 14, 2026.

Throughout her career, she has successfully led complex operational initiatives, workforce planning efforts, financial management, practice growth, and performance improvement programs, while building highly engaged teams and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

Jordana's parents, Peter '82 and Janet '82 are proud members of the Class of 1982, and her uncle Michael '79 is a proud alumnus from the Class of 1979.

On Friday, August 14, roughly 30 members of our Springfield College men’s soccer alumni gathered together at Wilbraham Country Club to enjoy a friendly round of golf. It was incredible to see everyone connecting on the course as of a wide span of eras attend the event. It was a joy seeing groups from the classes of 1983 through our recent 2025 alums reconnect and making new connections between the generations of Springfield men’s soccer alumni.

Perhaps the biggest group included Mike Smolens '84; John Rowley '83, G'85; Larry Strasner '86; Jeff Jones '85; John Larkin '86; John Scarano '85; Greg Stever '85; Ed Beauregard '87; and Jeff Rosen '87. The next biggest group representing classes in the 90s were Mike Bove '90; Doug Bowie '94; David Girouard '93, G'98; Bill McEachern '92; Matt Link '94; and Ed Greene '91, G'99. Perhaps most importantly, we were thrilled that long-time former teacher-coach, Peter Haley '77, G'78, was able to attend and see many familiar faces of the teams he coached here at SC for over 25 years. The Springfield College alumni network and campus community welcomed the Class of 2030 as part of Move-In Day and New Student Convocation. The day was made even more special by the very dedicated faculty and staff who also began their SC journey wearing a beanie or bucket hat and who continue to live out the Humanics philosophy day in and day out. Long live the beanie!

Springfield College Professor of Physical Therapy Maggie Daingerfield '11, DPT'14, volunteers with an organization called Life Rolls On. It's a non-profit organization that holds events around the country that make the beach and surfing accessible for people that need assistance.

This year, Daingerfield shared the info with Springfield College DPT students and PT alumni. The result was true Humanics as more than 20 students (DPT 1, 2 and 3 years) and alumni joined Daingerfield in living our mission at Springfield College. Congrats and thank you all for showcasing what makes Springfield College a special place.

Rretired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Henry “Hank” Detering '72, had a remarkable career in and out of the military. Now living in Madison with his wife and daughter, he is being inducted into the Madison VA Hospital Hall of Heroes on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 11 a.m.

While serving in Vietnam, Lt. Col. Detering piloted 100 missions in the A-4 and 150 missions in the A-6. He survived one helicopter crash and saved the co-pilot’s life.
